“A work of art is never completed – it is recreated repeatedly by the interpretation of each individual who views it, derived from their personal memories, emotions and inner being, beyond conscious reason and thought”

– Anize de Lange –

Because my art has a voice, the story shall be told.

Once I learned to bloom from the same wounds from which I once bled, my scars became my art.  In this, I chose the one road never traveled before – mine.

I do not paint only decorative pretty pictures – I paint mainly emotions in my attempts to depict aspects of our profound existence, in a fashion, which will hopefully be pleasing to the eye and mind of the majority.  Practicing spontaneity in the complete absence of former formal art training, perhaps my style and techniques can not be defined, nor confined by prescribed terms and rules – remaining true to my authenticity.

While I prepare my environment to be in accord with my next project, the temperamental ocean is wrestling outside, the sky is dressed in an elegant, yet torn, gray gown and the retiring yellow sun is flaunting her exit along the silver aqua horizon.  In the presence of the music of Estas Tonne’s ‘Internal Flight’ and the fragrance of vanilla and paint in the air, a warm breeze flirts with my hair, while I savour the taste of a Merlot on my lips … I surrender to the company of all my senses.

I find the sensation of freedom in working creatively, insatiable – this is my comfort.  Each piece I create is an intimate extraction and expression of the love, the sorrows, the riddles, the ecstasy, the wisdom and the dreams, which life bestows upon me.  They are all stories of the mystery and privilege to be present and to feel, that which we call ‘life’.

A mere four years ago, at the age of 47, I discovered my gravitation to art, when it served a significant role in my recovery back to health on all levels, hence my gratitude and my cause to see my work directly and indirectly accomplishing the noble purpose of restoring a measure of validation and bliss everywhere.   My desire to bring some form of ‘escape’ to those who are trapped in lonely places, whether physically or in the mind, sustains my devotion to invest my time and labour to my art – reaching out to those who ask in silence.

A large quantity of individual pieces (including three series) have been completed to date and several of these now reside in their new homes locally and abroad.  My work is available to both the private and business sectors internationally, via direct trading – gallery exhibition will be considered in the future, while presently, public viewing in Cape Town (South Africa), is arranged on request.
